Our raw sesame is primarily sourced from the core cultivation area around Wudi County in Shandong Province. The County, located in the Ecological and Economic Zone of the Yellow River Delta at 37.5°N, is nestled in the golden latitude for the cultivation of the thermophilic sesame in the country. There, our raw sesame benefits a lot from the exceptional geographical conditions, including the sandy soil in the old course of the Yellow River, clear water, and soil and irrigation water abundant in essential elements, particularly those essential for oilseed crop production.

Varieties with independent property rights

We have established China’s first Sesame Industry Technology Research Institute in collaboration with seven institutions including the Oil Crops Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Currently, the R&D team is staffed with one academician, three researchers, and eight doctors. Dedicated to sesame variety cultivation and improvement, the team has contributed to the selection of over 20 new sesame varieties. Among others, our new varieties, such as those with high-sesamin content, and those with high-calcium content and salt-alkali resistance, have passed scientific and technological achievement evaluation and proved to reach the world class.

We have achieved an exciting scientific breakthrough in the development of the new variety “Lu Yin Zhi No.1” after relentless efforts and in-depth research. With exceptionally high yields and robust resistance, this variety can thrive even under complex climate conditions. As a novel variety, it represents revolutionary progress in agricultural production and also undoubtedly a major breakthrough in China’s agricultural science and technology field. We are immensely proud of this achievement!

① Good saline-alkaline tolerance. In the planting base, where the soil has a salt content of about 0.4% and a pH value of 8, Lu Yin Zhi No.1 exhibits excellent salt-alkali tolerance throughout its entire growth cycle.

② Mechanization suitability. The new variety’s pod shattering is suitable, with good resistance to shattering, making it adaptable to mechanized production needs. The full mechanization has significantly reduced production costs.

③ Disease and lodging resistance. New varieties such as Lu Yin Zhi No.1 exhibit outstanding stress resistance, with erect stems and high yields.
